Hamza Latheef is a licensed practicer with a first degree in Human Rights from the Essex University (Great Britain) and an LLB from the Maldives National University.
He has been active in the legal field since 2012. After 7 years at the prestigious firm of Suood & Anwar LLP (now S&A), Hamza spent 2 years at the Ministry of Economic Development first as the National Legal Expert helping to deliver the ADB-funded Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Project and later as head of legal affairs at the Special Economic Zones secretariat. He later co-founded Wisham & Co LLP (later Wisham, Zahir & Co LLP) and spent 5 years there before co-founding CLA Partners LLP.
In his capacity as a consultant to the Government he has helped usher in reforms to the SME Act as well as the regime for regulating Employment Agencies. He also oversaw the marketing and negotiation of major development projects under the SEZ framework. His first passion is private practice and throughout his practice he successfully executed the successful sale of rights over property ranging from tourist resorts to real estate development projects in the Maldives. He is an experienced litigator handling both commercial disputes and criminal defense including high profile cases of public interest.
